Skin.Revu

Honest K-beauty and J-beauty reviews, personally tested on combination skin. Ingredient-led analysis, honest ratings, and no sponsored opinions.

Who's behind SkinRevu?

I’m Slav, and I review Korean and Japanese skincare from the UK. SkinRevu started because I was tired of the alternative — reviews that stay vague, reviews that are quietly paid for, and reviews written for a skin type that isn’t mine. Very little of it helps you work out whether a product is worth your money.

I test things properly and read the research behind them, rather than posting a verdict after one use. What drew me to K-beauty and J-beauty is that it tends to be honest about what’s in the bottle — full ingredient lists, formulations designed to layer, and increasingly some real clinical work behind the actives. That’s worth taking seriously, and it’s worth checking.

My skin is combination — oily through the T-zone, drier on the cheeks. It’s one of the most common skin types and one of the worst served. Most reviews are written for oily skin or for dry skin, and combination gets treated as a footnote to whichever the writer has. Everything here starts from combination skin, because that is the skin I am testing on.

How I review products

Everything reviewed here I bought myself. I use a product for at least four weeks before I write about it — long enough to get past the first-week reaction, which is misleading in both directions. Plenty of products feel wonderful on day three and do nothing by week six.

Each review covers three things. What is actually in the formula, at roughly what strength, and whether the evidence supports the claim. What it did on my skin over the testing period. And whether the price is justified by either of those. Then there is the repurchase verdict: would I spend my own money on this again? It is a blunt question, and the most useful one I can answer.

I don’t accept products in exchange for positive coverage. If something arrives as a gift or a PR sample, I say so in the review itself. There are affiliate links on the site and the Affiliate Disclosure explains exactly how they work.

Affiliate links & transparency

Some links here are affiliate links. If you buy through one I earn a small commission and you pay exactly the same price. It has never changed a rating and it never will — the negative reviews on this site have affiliate links too. The full Affiliate Disclosure sets it out.
